Oracle adds collaboration and networking tools to its CRM On Demand Release 15 launched Tuesday. It’s the company’s latest salvo against on-demand upstart Salesforce.com, reports Reuters.
The new program can be customized to run on a BlackBerry, and users can set up personalized Google and Yahoo pages.
ZDNet blogger Phil Wainewright describes it as “on the leading edge of what’s happening across all enterprise applications.”
Originally obtained in Oracle’s acquisition of Siebel two years ago, it’s the 15th incarnation of the software in 4 1/2 years. Reuters quotes analysts who say the new version addresses complaints that it requires that too much data to be useful. Says one:
