Interested? Stay with me. By the end of this post, you will have all the tools you need to replicate my success, without spending a penny. Below I provide you with an extensive list of tools, each of which is either completely free, or provides a free trial. Why would I provide all this information at no cost? Because it benefits both of us! That’s all part of how this works! Read on and I’ll tell you more.
Now don’t get me wrong. This isn’t a magic formula. You won’t be able to read this post and then collect a fat check. In order to succeed, you need to be committed to success. This is your business. While it’s possible to earn a solid income without spending tons of money, it will take time and dedication. If you are really serious, and willing to give it your full effort, then you will succeed!
Let me assure you that these methods work. I have used them myself in promoting this blog…that’s how you got here! I’ll be keeping this blog entry up-to-date with more tools and tips as I come across them, so check back often. One more thing…it is possible to start generating income without spending any money, but as you progress, you will find there are some paid tools that will be invaluable to your success. Don’t worry, you can get by without them until you’ve earned enough cash to afford them easily.
The Secret
The easiest way to make money on the internet is through affiliate advertising: Helping other people sell their products. Many companies will pay you up to 75% of each sale that they make, just for bringing the customer to them! And the best way to sell other people’s products is from your own website.
What? You don’t have a website? Don’t worry, we’ll cover how to get one. It’s not near as difficult as it sounds.
Here it is, the biggest secret on this site:
Web Traffic = Income
The more people that see your website, the more income you will generate. The large section of this tutorial will cover a variety of means to get your website in front of more people. But before we get there, we need to start at the beginning. I’m going to be giving you tons of information, and it’s a lot to soak in at once. Try to stay focused, but don’t be afraid to come back and read through things a few more times to make sure you got it all. In fact, I recommend you bookmark the site now so you don’t forget later!
Tools
Remember how I said that success would take time? Well, it will take a lot more time if you don’t have the right tools. Tools save you time by automating or simplifying many of the repetitive tasks that will be involved with your success. Here’s the tools I recommend you get (again, these are all free):
1. Google Account - Google is the king of the internet. The internet revolves around Google. They are the best at what they do, and you’ll want to take advantage of the many services they offer. You can get your free google account when you sign up for…
2. Email account - Go to GMail and sign up for a free e-mail accout. You will also be getting your Google account at the same time. Gmail is a free online e-mail service, which you will need. You don’t want to use your existing personal e-mail, as you will be getting a lot of mail at your business account. Gmail provides many advanced features such as labels and filters that will make managing your business e-mail simple.
3. Tabbed Browser - You won’t beleive how much this will simplify your marketing efforts. At many times it will be useful to have an entire group of web pages open at a single time. A tabbed browser allows you to switch between these pages with ease. You can use Internet Explorer 7, but I personally recommend Firefox, as I find it much easier to work with. See the next item for how to get Firefox.
4. Google Toolbar - Google is the king of the internet, remember? The google toolbar contains a variety of features that will make your business easier. One of the best features they offer is their auto-form filler. Using the google toolbar, you can fill your information in once, and then allow the toolbar to copy it for you in to whatever websites you visit. Best of all, the google toolbar comes packaged with Firefox in one easy, free download. There is a link on the bar on the right hand side of this page, I recommend you download it now.
5. Internet Money Making Tips Newsletter - On the right hand bar, fill in your name and your new Gmail address, and sign up for the newsletter. I’ll keep you up to date with regular updates to the tools and tips that are provided here to help you continue to grow your success.
Finding Your Products
This is the easy part. Before you can start making money, you have to have a product to sell. The best tool here is ClickBank. Clickbank is an affiliate company that gives you access to thousands of different products that you can sell for a 50-75% commission. You will want to pick a general category of products to market. This will allow you to target your marketing specifically to buyers of this category. Go ahead and sign up for a free ClickBank account now, and pick one or two products in your chosen category to promote.
Setting Up Your Blog
I said that making a website was easy, and I wasn’t lying. Here’s how: This website blog, along with most of the blogs on the internet, are already pre-built. All you have to do is type up the posts that go on the blog. By creating a blog, you do several good things for yourself:
1. You gain a permanant website, with little to no setup.
2. Blogs are indexed by the major search engines, which in turn drives free traffic to your website (remember, Traffic = Revenue).
3. Most internet users are accustomed to the format of blogs, and they know that they have regular updates, so they often visit more than once.
You can set up your own free blog at Blogger (run by Google). Give it a catchy name that sounds professional. You also want a name that will appeal to potential buyers of your category of products. For example, if you choose “computer repair software” as your category, pick a name that fits with this category, such as “Computer Repair Answers”. Go through the setup process and select an attractive template for your blog.
Once you have your blog set up, you will want to go ahead and make your first post. Be enthusiastic with your writing. Detail your first selected product, and describe why it would benefit your potential customer. Be sure to include your affiliate ‘hoplink’ in the blog entry so you get credit for the sale (you can generate this quickly on the ClickBank website).
Here’s the trick to making a sale: Explain how your product solves the customer’s problem. To use our computer repair example, explain how your software will improve the user’s computing experience.
Enhancing Your Blog
Now that you have your blog set up, we want to add to it, to maximize it’s income potential. On the sidebar of your blog, add several links to other similar products in your category. Again, make sure to use your ClickBank affiliate hoplink so you get credit for these sales as well.
The next step is to sign up for AdSense. AdSense is Google’s advertising system, and it’s an excellent way to add more revenue to your website. Like everything else I’ve suggested, it’s free. Check out the banner on the right side of the page and sign up for AdSense now.
Once you’ve signed up for AdSense, go back to your Blogger control panel and add AdSense ad units to your page. Blogger makes it easy to insert an add unit at the top of your blog, and with a little practice, you can insert them other places in your blog as well. I recommend you take a bit to experiment with it. While the income stream from AdSense will be small at first, it will steadily increase as your blog grows in popularity.
Promoting Your Blog
Here’s the part that will take the majority of your time and energy. People arn’t just going to magically start showing up to read your blog just because you have it all set up. You’re going to have to go bring them in. Fortunatly, there are a variety of free ways to drive traffic to your site. Remember what I said earlier: Web Traffic = Income. You want to get your blog in front of as many people as possible.The first easy way to draw in readers to your blog is through other blogs. There are two ad blogs that are great for this purpose. These ad blogs allow anyone to post a short entry advertising their own site for free. Not only will you attract visitors from these sites, but posting links to your blog from other sites will increase its ranking in the search engines, giving you even more free traffic.
Here’s the one that I use most often: Free Advertising Blog (post once every 7 days)Another great way to promote your blog is through groups. Yahoo and Google both provide a variety of groups that allow you to post free ads for your site that are read by thousands of users. If you go to these sites and search for marketing or advertising groups, you will get a full quick list. You can also search for groups related to the product category you chose.A word of warning: Be careful not to spam these groups. Read the posting guidelines for each group, and be sure to follow them. Posting ad messages against group policy can get your account suspended.When you post to a group, keep your message short and personal. Give a description of your blog, and explain how you provide answers to the problems of your selected product category. Be sure to include a link to your blog!One of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog is through traffic exchange services. Essentially, when you use traffic exchange, you agree to visit someone else’s website in exchange for their visiting yours. By themselves, traffic exchanges can be difficult to mange. However, there is a company that makes them easy to work with, and gives you the chance to get an excellent return from traffic exchanges. That company is Traffic Hoopla. They keep detailed statistics on traffic exchanges, and can help you leverage the ones with the best returns.
